Somebody recently pointed out that the doctrine of nuclear deterrance is still a very valid one, "After all..." quoth they, "Look at North Korea, proveably up to no good but with a shedload of ballistic missiles and allegedly a couple of home-brewed atomic warheads they're doing a damned good job of deterring the west from doing anything about it."
Ah... it almost harks back to Kipling (I think) and the little poem :
"Were 'ere we go, We have got, The Maxim gun, And they have not."
It's a sorry state of affairs when world politics has reached such a high loopiness quotient that satire just can't actually manage to keep up (Like they day they gave Kissenger that Nobel Peace prize for helping end the war he effectively helped start).
