A New Hope

Well, I'm still ill... but the cold has now moved from my nose to my forehead. It feels like someone is hitting me with a lumphammer on the temples, but at least this can be mitigated by quantities of painkilling drugs. The cough is still about, but after having had 30 minutes sleep on wednesday night, I was pretty much out for the count last night. So - a full night's sleep and less cold-related unpleasantness made me consider travelling down to the Big Smoke for [livejournal.com profile] jfs' Ars game. After due consideration, I decided to give it a miss, as I think it might constitute "pushing my luck". A great shame, but then I'd rather not pass on this nastiness to all my friends.
Instead, I shall stay here, and let others come to me to be infected, and Jamie, Amy and [livejournal.com profile] mrcook come to visit Roysten Vasey tonight. Well at least they are walking willingly into the plague-house rather than having infection forced upon them.

In other news, I amused myself last night by shouting profanities at the diverse wankers politicians who paraded themselves on telly for my ridicule. First up was our esteemed Prime Minister who kept insisting that we were a terrorist threat. (See this transcript for details). Now whilst I agree entirely, that based on the performance of Blair over the past few weeks, we are indeed a terrorist threat, I'm certain that he isn't s'posed to say that out loud!

Next up was the Tory party Shadow leader of the house, who managed to spout meaningless nonsense in support of the war on Iraq, whilst Billy Bragg and Shirley Williams took him to pieces on Question Time. Add to that Estelle Morris, who despite her uncharacteristic display of humility last year doesn't seem to have learned. "We must take action against the most despicable terrorist sponsoring state" she claimed, only to have the stunning Mr Bragg reply "Ahhh, you are obviously talking about North Korea". She wasn't. It is a lamentable state when our politicians are publicly humiliated by singer/songwriters (even ones as eloquent as Billy).

Lastly, I was treated to the sight of Michael "suck Satan's cock" Portillo openly praising Tony Blair for being the "true heir to Thatcher"! The horror that this assertion had upon me is hard to express, but it just reinforces the creeping dread that I have been feeling of late.

Apologies for being a momist (hooray for lost word calendars - it means "fault finder"), but are these people really supposed to be running our country?

Anyway, that's all for now... I think i need a lie down now.
